The celebration

A couple planning a very small wedding in August 2025 asked Pearl Lemon Catering to cater a private lunch at a boutique venue in West London. Nine guests were invited: eight adults and one young child. The names of the couple and the venue are withheld for privacy. The couple wanted the meal to feel personal and generous, despite the small guest list.

The constraint: every plate is noticed

With nine guests, every plate is noticed. The brief included halal meat, vegetarian dishes, a mild option for the child and a bespoke sugar-free chocolate cake. The meal also had to fit a private venue's kitchen access and timings: setup at midday, the celebration planned from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, and clearing away afterwards.

Our remit

Pearl Lemon developed the menu with the couple, coordinated with the venue on kitchen access and timings, and planned the service. Two waiting staff were included in the plan. This was menu development tailored to the couple, refined over several revisions, not a fixed banquet package.

The menu

The menu drew on Middle Eastern cooking: lamb sheesh, hummus, baba ganoush, fattoush, vine leaves and vegetarian moussaka. Drinks were alcohol-free, with unsweetened juice, water, ayran and teas. A milder meal was planned separately for the child. A live lamb station was discussed as an optional extra but was not part of the confirmed scope.

On the day

Pearl Lemon catered the wedding lunch to the agreed menu for the couple and their guests. To protect the couple's privacy, we do not publish photographs of guests or details of the venue.

What this means for small weddings

Small weddings often need more personal planning than large ones. Dietary confidence, a menu with real meaning for the couple, and calm coordination with the venue matter more than scale. If you are planning an intimate wedding, start with your guest list, your dietary needs and how you'd like the meal to feel, and we will design around them.
