A smoothie experience travelling between workplaces
Material Hangout commissioned a two-day programme of fresh smoothie pop-ups on 23 and 24 September 2025. Instead of sending everyone to one launch location, the activation brought a simple live drinks offer into workplaces across central London. The operating brief listed three stops on each day, including design and architecture offices. Pearl Lemon Catering’s role was the fresh smoothie service; the client determined the wider workplace programme and venue invitations.
The constraint: different sites, short service windows
Each office stop required its own access and loading plan, a small preparation space and enough time to leave the area clean before travelling to the next location. The route listed locations including Thomas More Square, Holborn, Southwark and the City. A multi-stop activation is only as reliable as the shortest gap between departures and the next setup. The brief limited each stop to an allowance of up to 25 smoothies, rather than assuming an unlimited service.
Three blends with different purposes
The working menu offered Tropical Twist with mango, pineapple, banana and coconut water; Green Machine with spinach, apple, cucumber, lime and mint; and Protein Punch with almond milk, blueberries, banana and vegan protein. Flavours could be adjusted according to ingredient availability, and allergens needed to be checked against the actual ingredients. This focused choice reduced the number of ingredients, made stock forecasting easier and gave guests fruit-led and protein-oriented options.
What the catering team supplied
The streamlined operating model called for a professional smoothie barista at each service stop, preparation of fresh drinks on site, standard compostable cups and napkins, setup and breakdown and a tidy-up before leaving. It intentionally used client-provided surfaces where suitable; a custom branded counter and branded cups were excluded from the approved lean scope. This matters because a mobile activation can succeed without a large scenic build when the purpose is welcome hospitality rather than a fully produced trade stand.
Delivery and the event experience
Material Hangout's two-day activation was completed successfully. Each stop was planned as a compact, self-contained service: arrive, set up, blend to order, clear down and move on. We don't report a final smoothie total or claim that every person at every listed office received a drink; the figures here are the planned allowances.
Lessons for roadshows and multi-location pop-ups
For several stops in a day, map the route in service order, confirm loading bays, power and water at each site, choose a concise menu and designate an on-site host to handle arrival. Build in realistic travel and pack-down time. The best proposal is an itinerary with service limits and responsibilities, not merely a list of flavours. Pearl Lemon can scope drinks pop-ups for workspace communities, showroom tours and brand roadshows.
Frequently asked questions
Can you run a smoothie bar at several offices on the same day?
Yes, subject to geography, travel time and venue access. Material Hangout’s brief covered a sequence of London workplace stops, each with a defined service window and compact setup.
How many smoothies can be made at each location?
The referenced brief budgeted for up to 25 smoothies per venue. That was a service allowance, not a measured final number; each new programme needs a capacity calculation based on equipment and service time.
Do we need to hire a custom smoothie cart?
Not necessarily. Where a venue offers suitable clean tables, safe power and water, a compact barista setup may be more economical than a custom-built bar. The design and hygiene needs must still be checked.
Are vegan smoothies available?
The proposed blends were fruit- and plant-milk-based, including a vegan-protein option. Confirm the final recipe, cross-contact controls and allergen declarations; almond milk introduces a tree-nut consideration.
Can cups and signage be branded?
Branding can be quoted separately if the timeline and artwork allow it. Material Hangout’s lean event specification excluded bespoke branding, so it should not be presented as included by default.
What information is needed for a multi-office smoothie proposal?
Provide the ordered venue list, loading access, dates, service start and finish times, intended quantities, available surfaces, power, water and allergen requirements.
