Who, where and when
WWE ran three days of UK tryouts at the Enfield Performance Centre from 28 to 30 March 2025. Athletes were assessed in demanding physical sessions across all three days, and Pearl Lemon Catering was booked to feed them. The plan was built for a group of about 65 athletes and staff. That is the planning figure we prepared for, not a register of people who ate.
What made this brief different
At a tryout, the timetable belongs to the coaches, not the kitchen. Two meal windows were fixed each day, lunch at 12:15 and a second service at 16:55, and both sat between assessment blocks. Food that arrives ten minutes late means athletes either train hungry or eat too close to their next session. The same two deadlines repeated for three consecutive days, so whatever worked on day one had to work again on days two and three.
The venue is a training facility, not a fitted restaurant kitchen. The brief therefore treated food service as a temporary setup, with hot-holding, serving tables and water stations planned as part of the operation rather than added on the day.
Who did what
- WWE: the tryout programme, the session timetable, the athletes and the venue.
- Pearl Lemon Catering: athlete-focused menus, preparing and serving food in the two daily windows, hydration support and the food-service setup around them.
This page covers the March 2025 tryouts only. WWE’s UK tour hospitality in May 2025 was a separate booking with a different brief and has its own case study.
The menu, traced to the brief
The brief asked for lean proteins, substantial carbohydrate choices, vegetables and genuine vegan options, with hydration and snacks available between the main sittings. In practice, that meant lunch had to fuel the afternoon without leaving anyone sluggish, and the later window had to support recovery. Vegan dishes were planned as full meals, not side salads, so a vegan athlete ate as well as anyone else. Allergen labelling was part of the routine at every service.
Outcome
Pearl Lemon delivered the catering across all three days of the tryouts. We have not published meal or snack totals, because no event-day log recorded them. Nor do we make any claim about athletic performance.
Scoping a similar sports programme
Start with the timetable rather than the menu. For a training camp, trial or multi-day sports event, send us:
- the dates and venue, and what kitchen, power and water are available
- the session timetable and the meal windows you want protected
- the planned number of athletes, coaches and staff
- dietary profile: vegan, allergens, any sports-nutrition guidance from your staff
- where food can be served and held without getting in the way of training
With that, we can plan the menu, equipment and service sequence before the first athlete arrives. To start, contact our events team or book a call.
Questions buyers ask
Can you cater multi-day sports trials or training camps?
Yes. We catered WWE's UK tryouts at the Enfield Performance Centre over three days, 28 to 30 March 2025, for a group planned at about 65 athletes and staff. Menus covered lean proteins, carbohydrate options, vegan choices and hydration.
How do you fit meals around a training timetable?
We start with the schedule. For the WWE tryouts two meal windows were planned each day, at 12:15 and 16:55, so food had to be ready on time with little margin. Menus balanced energy with digestibility so athletes could eat and still train afterwards.
Can vegan athletes eat properly from the same menu?
Yes. On the WWE tryouts brief the vegan options were a full part of the menu rather than an afterthought. Tell us the dietary profile of your group in advance and we will build each meal window around it.
What should a sports organiser send for a quote?
Send the dates, venue, planned headcount, meal windows, any training or competition timings and the dietary profile, including allergen-free or vegan needs. We plan service around the timetable first and the menu second.
