The brief
A European luxury craft and heritage organisation held a senior leadership seminar at a high-rise venue in Canary Wharf for a planned group of 15. The day moved from morning refreshments into an informal standing lunch. The organiser was also attending the meeting, so the catering had to run without needing their attention. Pearl Lemon provided the food, drinks and service; the seminar itself was run by the client.
The venue
The private dining area was on level 56 of Landmark Pinnacle, where access rules, kitchen-use policies and waste procedures all shaped the catering plan. Guest arrival was brought forward to 10:00am with less than a day’s notice, so breakfast had to be fully set before the session began.
The menu
Breakfast included coffee, tea, juice, pastries and fruit. The standing lunch was more substantial but easy to eat while talking: vegetable bruschetta, salmon blinis, chicken satay, mini quiches and halloumi, followed by bite-sized desserts. A plated lunch was avoided so guests could take what they needed and return to the seminar promptly.
Service in the background
A dedicated server on site looked after the buffet setup, food temperatures, replenishment and the final clear-down. Breakfast was ready before arrivals and lunch was served between 12:30pm and 2:00pm. Access, equipment and clearing responsibilities were agreed with the venue in advance rather than left to the organiser on the day.
The outcome
The team absorbed the earlier start time and the client gave positive feedback on the day.
Why it matters
Executive catering works when it protects the organiser’s attention. Planning the menu and the staff brief around the meeting schedule, the venue’s rules and the guests’ day is what made this small seminar run smoothly, and the same approach suits board meetings, investor days and leadership offsites.
Questions buyers ask
Can you cater a small executive seminar in a high-rise venue?
Yes. We provided breakfast and a staffed standing lunch for a 15-person leadership seminar on level 56 of Landmark Pinnacle in Canary Wharf. Access rules, kitchen-use policies and waste procedures were agreed with the venue in advance.
What if the start time moves at short notice?
We plan for it where we can. For this seminar guest arrival was brought forward to 10:00am with less than a day's notice, so breakfast had to be fully set before the session began. Tell us about changes as soon as you know.
Why a standing lunch instead of plated service?
A standing lunch lets guests take what they need and return to the session promptly. The menu was substantial but easy to eat while talking, including vegetable bruschetta, salmon blinis, chicken satay, mini quiches and halloumi, followed by bite-sized desserts.
Is a server included for a group of 15?
For this seminar a dedicated server looked after the buffet setup, food temperatures, replenishment and clear-down, so the organiser, who was attending the meeting, did not need to manage anything. Staffing is planned to suit each brief.
